Renovation, Restoration, Transformation
In 1978 Colin and his wife Laurie Greenly took their fixture fees from selling their rented New York City loft and bought an abandoned 100 year old dairy barn with 7 additional buildings. They did 90% of the of the demolition, renovation, and reconstruction. Three buildings were removed, the loft of the main barn became their studios, and the barn yard was transformed into gardens. The basement and first floor living area took 6 years to complete. Next, they built the upstairs studio for Colin. In 2012, with help, additional studio space was added for both Colin and Laurie. Colin considered the project the equivalent of creating a work of art and documented many of the 'drawings' and 'sculpture' he created during the process.
